The challenge

 
 

XpertiseNow (XN) sought to reinvent and optimise collaboration between businesses and consultants. They envisioned a marketplace that enabled businesses to find specialised consulting expertise, while also equipping consultants with tools to deliver their services and projects more effectively.

PSYKHE was engaged to materialise this vision. From defining the product proposition, building an accompanying marketing website, to designing the client and consultant marketplace platform, we propelled the global launch of this product.

 

The approach

 

To understand and identify gaps in the current consultancy market, PSYKHE first conducted interviews with consultants and businesses - prospective users of the XpertiseNow platform. This included project sponsors and procurement teams, as well as specialist consultant profiles from different boutique experts.

The interviews covered the end-to-end engagement process, including stages of a typical project:

  • Defining new project requirements and scope​

  • Developing Request For Proposals and sourcing expert teams​

  • Onboarding and managing project materials and administration​

  • Project financing and closure​

These conversations shed light on over 70 needs and pain points that clients and consultants report experiencing. For instance,

  • businesses seek expertise from consultancies with multiple specialisms and knowledge-sharing mechanisms, but also value the convenience of working with a single consultancy for administrative advantages

  • specialist consultancies desire high quality leads, and are often open to collaborating with consultancies with complimentary expertise to better address client needs

PSYKHE distilled 7 core value propositions that XN could offer based on user-generated insights. With these propositions, we facilitated ideation workshops with their product and leadership teams in order to generate applicable solutions. Potential solutions were then prioritised using the Kano Model, with a focus on unique features aimed to delight customers and create a differentiated offering.

PSYKHE worked closely with the XpertiseNow team in the end-to-end process of generating a product vision and bringing it to life. Our research enabled the strategic definition of XN’s value proposition; with the roadmap in place, we then went on to build the foundation of the product’s brand identity and design system.

During our year-long partnership, PSYKHE built and launched XN’s marketing website, which saw 40 consultancies and new clients onboarded onto the platform. We then went on to build and refine the MVP with 10 prioritised features.

With XN’s platform, corporate clients now enjoyed access to world-class consultancy talent at boutique rates, with the ability to share, and shape, RFPs with proven domain experts. Meanwhile, consultancies were empowered to collaborate with other experts to offer more holistic solutions for clients. They also gained access to best-in-class research, project management and finance tools previously only available to large consultancy firms.

Businesses seeking consultancy expertise thus saw cost savings and stronger talent, while consultants streamlined their processes and resources to deliver top-quality work.
